"Bak for the Future"
Message from Stanley Bak:
Hello Three Village neighbors. I am running for school board because I believe we can
make our schools even better. I am an educator, a Stony Brook resident, and a father of three young children in our schools. My oldest daughter is six years old and currently attending Mount Elementary. I am a strong advocate for high-quality education, especially in STEM fields.
I currently teach computer science at the university level, as well as manage advanced research projects from the United States Air Force, Navy, and National Science Foundation.
I come from a family of educators. Both my parents were high school math teachers. My grandparents were teachers. I have aunts, uncles, and cousins all involved in education. I firmly believe that education is a path to empowerment and strongly respect the work that teachers do. I am also a committed believer in public service, having previously served for four years as a civil servant in the United States Air Force Research Laboratory, both in the Information Directorate in update New York, as well as the Aerospace Systems Directorate in Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
I have participated in district-wide decision making, for example, as a parent member of the cell phone subcommittee and am an active member of the PTA. I have been involved in various Facebook groups advocating for better educations for our students, and support local non-profit organizations including the Three Village STEM Enrichment Foundation. My children participate in local education nonprofit programs such as School Nova, the Center for Chinese Learning at Stony Brook and intramural soccer through the Stony Brook–LGN Program.
